MINISTER LEADS M'SIAN DELEGATION TO OIC FOREIGN MINISTERS SESSION IN KAZAKHSTAN

Foreign Minister Anifah Aman
is leading a Malaysian delegation consisting of officials of the ministry and
its agencies to the 38th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the
Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) which starts Tuesday in Astana, the
capital of Kazakhstan.

According to a statement from the ministry here, the three-day conference is
expected to consider new proposals by the member countries and to review
progress in the implementation of OIC resolutions adopted during the previous
session last year.

Malaysia will bring forth to the Council the need to enchance economic
cooperation, poverty allevation and collaboration in the field of education,
science and technology.

Similarly, this session of the council would present Malaysia with the
opportunity to reiterate its position on vital international political,
economic and social issues and enhancing the role played by Malaysia on matters
concerning Muslims, the statement said.

Anifah is also expected to meet his counterparts from several OIC countries
for a bilateral discussions during the session, the statement added.
