Russian, Mexican Foreign Ministers to discuss bilateral trade.

MOSCOW, June 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
and Mexican Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa meet in Moscow Tuesday to
discuss trade and economic cooperation and the coordination of bilateral
efforts in international affairs.
"Patricia Espinosa's visit to Russia aims to move the fruitful
political dialogue between the two countries to a new stage," the Russian
Foreign Ministry's official spokesman, Alexander Lukashevich said in a
comment on the visit.
"Mexico traditionally plays an active role in the international arena,
which it demonstrates through membership in a whole range of multinational
and regional organizations - the WTO, the Group of Twenty, APEC, and the
OECD," he said.
Special focus will be given at the talks to bilateral trade, which
according to expert estimates falls far short of what it could be.
Analysts say task number one in this area is to diversify the trade
turnover that totaled $ 768.5 million in 2010 and to stimulate the
increase of bilateral investment.
The branches of the economy where the talks between Lavrov and
Espinosa will hopefully help step up the mutual activity are the energy
sector, agriculture, metallurgy, and machine building.
Analysts point to a gradual increase of Russian-Mexican contacts in
research and technologies, as the two countries are implementing a number
of bilateral projects in that sphere. Some the projects are related to
space exploration, for instance.
A bilateral statement is due to be signed at the end of the visit.
The package of documents that Lavrov and Espinosa are expected to put
their signatures on also includes a program for cooperation in science and
technologies for the years 2011 and 2012 and a memorandum of mutual
understanding in sports.
Wednesday, June 28, Patricia Espinosa will have talks with Russia's
Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina.
