Vice president of Baltic Assembly meets members of Milli Majlis Committee on international and interparliamentary relations

Baku (AzerTAc) - Vice president of the Baltic Assembly and head of the Latvian delegation to the organization Janis Reirs has met with the members of Milli Majlis Standing Committee on International and Inter-parliamentary Relations as part of his visit to Azerbaijan.
Chairman of the Committee Samad Seyidov said relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia were developing. “We highly appreciate the fact that Latvia supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. This proves existence of close friendship between two countries,” he added.
The Azeri MP also noted cooperation between Baltic Assembly and Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) would serve development of political, economic, cultural relations among member states.
In his turn, Reirs said as a leading country in the region Azerbaijan is one of the main states in GUAM. “Azerbaijan plays an important role in European energy security. Latvia considers Azerbaijan as a close partner and is interested in expansion of relations,” he added.
The Vice president of the Baltic Assembly stressed Latvia supports Azerbaijan`s integration to Europe.
The sides exchanged views on role of the parliaments in development of relations, importance of reciprocal visits, and regional processes.
