Lee names new political affairs secretary
SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak named national planning secretary Lee Jin-gyu as one of his political affairs secretaries, the presidential office said Friday.
Lee, 49, replaces Kim Yeon-kwang as the first political affairs aide, a key post under senior political secretary Kim Hyo-jae. Lee's predecessor, Kim, resigned last month to prepare to run in next year's parliamentary elections.
A former senior researcher at the ruling Grand National Party's strategy think tank, Lee was picked for the post for his rich experience in political affairs and planning, the office said in a statement.
