Azerbaijan ‘close friend and partner’ for Romania

Baku, July 11 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan is a close friend and partner for Romania, said Mayor of Bucharest`s Sector 2 and vice-president of Romanian Municipalities Association Nekulay Ontsanu at a meeting with members of the Working Group on Azerbaijan-Romania interparliamentary ties.
Ontsanu noted his country was interested in comprehensive development of relationship with Azerbaijan. He underlined the role of political parties and parliaments in expansion of relations between the two countries. Ontsanu also said his visit would contribute to expansion of bilateral cooperation in scientific, education, cultural and other spheres.
Member of the Working Group Mirkazim Kazimov briefed the Romanian delegation on the activities and international relations of the Azerbaijani parliament. He noted more than 70 working groups were operating in the Parliament which play important role in strengthening relations not only between the legislative bodies, but also countries and peoples.
Kazimov underscored the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev in boosting relationship between Azerbaijan and Romania.
The sides also discussed the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, reciprocal visits by MPs and representatives of political parties.
Members of the delegation said Romania regards that the problem must be resolved on the basis of principles of international law.
