NA (PML-N MNA Anjum Aqeel will be produced in house, PM assures)
Islamabad, July 22, 2011 (PPI): Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Friday held out an assurance that PML-N MNA Anjum Aqeel would be produced in the House as it is right of the member to represent his constituency.
He was responding to a point of order raised by Sheikh Aftab Ahmad about non-production of the member despite a written request by the party and issuance of production order by the Deputy Speaker.
The Prime Minister said such production orders were issued in the past as well and he himself issued orders in respect of several MNAs in his capacity as Speaker of the Assembly.
The Deputy Speaker said production orders were issued last night and they are inquiring into the matter as to why he has not been produced in the House.
Meanwhile, Anjum Aqeel MNA, who attended session of the National Assembly on production orders issued by the Deputy Speaker, gave his version of the circumstances that led to registration of a case against him and subsequent arrest.
He claimed that scandal against him is a mere fabrication and relates to a project which was initiated by him in 1997 and completed in 2003.
He said he owed nothing to Police Foundation. He said there was interference in the investigations being carried out against him.
