Thai military waits for new government's border policy

BANGKOK, July 30 (TNA) - Regarding the International Court of Justice (ICJ)'s recent order for both Thailand and Cambodia to withdraw their troops from the vicinity of the Preah Vihear Temple along the common border, Thai Supreme Commander General Songkitti Jaggabatr says that the Thai military is waiting for the incoming government's policy and will follow suit.

General Songkitti insisted, however, that the Royal Thai Armed Forces are duty-bound to protect the national sovereignty, and that the Thai military will cooperate with the government on the issue.

General Songkitti acknowledged that the Royal Thai Armed Forces' new procurement plans are not aimed to make any war, but to defend the nation, saying that security in Thailand means the security of Southeast Asia and the world community as a whole. (TNA)
