Iraq parliament committee seeks joint commission with Iran on PJAK

TEHRAN, Aug. 1 (MNA) – In reaction to Iran’s military action against terrorist moves by PJAK, the Iraqi Parliament security and defense committee has called for establishment of a joint commission with Iran to settle the problem through diplomacy.

PJAK terrorists use Iraqi Kurdistan’s soil in their hit-and-run attacks in northwest Iran. Iran has said it keeps the right to hunt down PJAK terrorist inside Iraq.

According to Iraqi newspaper Al-Sabah, in the last session of the Iraqi parliament, the security and defense committee compiled a report on the military operations carried out by the Islamic Revolution Guards corps against PJAK and reacted against Iran’s operations, the Fars news agency reported on Sunday.

The committee advised Iran to settle the conflict through diplomacy and respect the territorial integrity of Iraq.

It has demanded that Iran stop shelling PJAK positions inside Iraq.

The committee suggested that the commission comprise Iraq and Iran as well as the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government to estimate the losses incurred by both Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan and also settle the conflict.
