Azerbaijani top official: Statement by chief of staff of Iranian armed forces not fit for any frame

Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug. 11 /Trend, S.Agayeva Azerbaijan establishes and develops its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, always being committed to the principles of good neighborhood, friendship and fruitful cooperation. However, in contrast to the statements made by the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran during meetings with the President of Azerbaijan, apparently some circles in Iran, carrying out policies contrary to the interests of both Iran and Azerbaijan, openly demonstrate their insidious intentions, Azerbaijani top official Novruz Mammadov told Trend on Thursday, commenting on the statement made by the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Seyyed Hassan Firouzabadi with regards to Azerbaijan.
"It becomes necessary to express attitude towards such events with regret and astonishment and with a heart pain," said Mammadov.
"One time, a mullah of a city, carrying out historical revisionism, distorts the history, and one time a military, instead of dealing with his professional activity, plunges into the lake of politics, not being able to swim. Such phenomena have turned into a norm," said Mammadov.

Furthermore, recently a large group of media outlets of the Islamic Republic of Iran devotes all their activities to conducting propaganda against Azerbaijan, Mammadov said.
"Unfortunately, given all the factors, it seems that some people in the Islamic Republic of Iran do not want to understand that there is no alternative to friendly relations, which is stated by the leaders of both countries. From this point of view, the statement by the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Seyyed Hassan Firouzabadi made two days ago does not fit for any frame either upon its nature or intention," he said.

"One might ask, Mr. General, if you so deeply know and are strongly interested in the political processes, look at yourself first and put the diagnosis. Let us make conclusions from your reasoning. But if you want to see yourself at the level of mujtahid or ayatollah, and via military tone, interfere in the internal politics of a neighboring and friendly country and give advice, it looks very funny. Another idea is that the General, better knowing the processes inside the Islamic Republic of Iran, may claim to shift to political power. But we are not interested in it, it is his personal matter," said Mammadov.
"One is clear is that the General of such a high position and rank should know the history, politics, medicine, and ethics as well," Mammadov said. "And with fortune-telling on what blood flows in the veins of someone, with what feelings someone's heart is beating, the General will not go so long. He must understand that Islam rejects fortune-telling and the fortune-telling is considered a very dangerous activity in Iran," said Mammadov.
