Bazouni demands Maliki to turn Basra PC demand to form Basra Region to IHEC

Baghdad (NINA) – MP from Basra Province, Jawad Al Bazouni, called on Prime Minister, Nouri Al Maliki to turn “Basra Provincial Council’s demand to form Basra Region to the Independent High Electoral Commission.”

In a press conference, Bazouni said “the conditions are available now to form the Basra Region. We submitted the request to the parliament signed by more than half of the Basra PC.”

He added that “Basra people’s conviction that the problems their city suffers from will not be solved under the ugly central system, despite all the attempts to solve them.”

He wondered why the procedures to turn Basra into a region are taking that long. /End/
