Anniversary of Korea's Liberation Marked in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- The 66th anniversary of Korea's liberation was marked in Pyongyang on Monday.
Present at the meeting were members of the Council for the Reunification of Tangun's Nation and people from all walks of life in Pyongyang.
A north-south joint appeal was released at the meeting on the anniversary. It recalled Japan which imposed immeasurable sufferings and disasters upon the Korean people in the past is making desperate efforts to enslave Koreans again, while distorting the history of aggression and working hard to grab Tok Islets.
It called upon the national movement organizations in the north and the south to intensify the movements against outside forces and for peace against a war in order to strongly reject the moves of the outside forces for domination, interference and provocation of a war and foil the Japanese militarists' ambition for "reinvasion."
They will meet all challenges lying in the way of reunification by their concerted efforts under the banner of "By our nation itself" and conduct a dynamic struggle to bring about a turning phase of independent reunification, peace and prosperity, it declared.
