SPEAKER NEW COUNTRY DIRECTOR OF ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Parliament Speaker D.Demberel received Thursday, August 25 Mr. Robert Schoellhammer, the new country director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Mongolia. They have shared views on the cooperation between Mongolia and ADB.
The Speaker congratulated Mr. Schoellhammer on taking the chairmanship of the ADB Representative in Mongolia, and underlined that the ADB plays an important role in the development of Mongolia. “Mongolian parliament deliberately considers proposals initiated by the ADB when discussing the budgetary and financial matters. The ADB is different than other financial organizations because it implements vital projects and programs in Mongolia for developing infrastructure taking into account of the situation and conditions,” D.Demberel stressed.
In turn, Mr. Schoellhammer underlined the ADB has been satisfied with the development of Mongolia, and added Mongolia has achieved a new opportunity to take assistance thanks to promoting the rate for Mongolia. He reported the ADB has drawn up a new partnership policy for Mongolia, and plans to submit it to the Governing Council in October, 2011. This partnership policy supports the sectors of health, education, road, transportation and energy in Mongolia, and the participation of private sector.
Mr. Schoellhammer appreciated the proposal of the Parliament Speaker on the social welfare policy.
