Children in Somalia enjoy end of civil war

MOGADISHU (A.A) - August 29, 2011 - The people of Somalia are tired after the civil war that lasted 21 years.
It has only been 1.5 months since weapons became silent in the war of Al Muhakemun-Essebab that had begun in 2006.
Essebab's shadow is still in Mogadishu despite withdrawing from the city.
While it is difficult to claim that a war in Somalia will not begin again, children who could not play in the shadow of weapons now can play until 20.00 hours in a given day.
Amateur track and field competitions, organized by the Somali Youth League, take place in Mogadishu nowadays.
One of the League's teachers, Abdulahi Roble, said that their activities were not limited with sports events.
We hold short trips to sites out of Mogadishu, Roble said.
Following Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's recent visit to Mogadishu, the streets are now calmer, markets are more active and people hear less sounds of weapons.
The number of passenger jets arriving at the Aden Abdulle International Airport are on the rise.
After Erdogan's visit to Mogadishu with his family, the son of Saudi Amir and an accompanying delegation arrived in Mogadishu on Monday in a Saudi Arabian Airlines passenger jet.
Somali officials said that the Saudi administration is about to provide an assistance of 30 million USD to Somalia.
