Libyan opposition continues to progress towards Sirte

BIN JEVAD/RAS LANUF/BENGHAZI (A.A) - August 29, 2011 - Clashes continue between Muammar Gaddafi's forces and the Libyan opposition as the opposition forces continue to progress towards Sirte.
The opposition forces' aim is to conquer Sirte without further clashes.
A team of AA reporters recorded sights in cities of Ajdabiya, Brega, Ras Lanuf and Bin Jevad that are located between Benghazi and Sirte that sit 600 kilometers away from each other.
Just outside of Benghazi are many destroyed tanks.
NATO forces bombed the tanks of Gaddafi forces before they could enter Benghazi. As such, a great massacre of civilians has been prevented in Benghazi.
There was heavy fighting between Brega and Ras Lanuf cities. One can understand the degree of violence by looking at the dozens of vehicles that were damaged in the clashes.
The regions of Ras Lanuf, Bin Jevad and Novfiliya have been cleared off civilians due to heavy clashes between Gaddafi and opposition forces. One can only see military vehicles in these regions.
Opposition forces have reached the town of Novfiliya, some 100 kilometers away from Sirte. The city of Bin Jevad, conquered by the opposition forces on Sunday, is still not much safe.
Speaking to the AA at the entrance of Bin Jevad, a leader of the professional soldiers, Idris Abdullah, said that Gaddafi forces had been taken out of Ras Lanuf and Bin Jevad and that their aim now was to conquer Sirte.
The National Transitional Council and leaders of the tribes in Sirte are negotiating so that there are no more civilian casualties, Abdullah said.
We aim to conquer Sirte without more casualties, Abdullah noted.
The opposition forces made a warning to the AA team that they should not stay together as a rocket may hit them at any time.
There is a shortage of oil in cities between Benghazi and Sirte.
