Medvedev congratulates Kyrgyzstan on independence anniversary

MOSCOW, August 30 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has
congratulated his Kyrgyz counterpart Roza Otunbayeva on the 20th
anniversary of the Central Asian republic's independence.
According to the Kremlin press service, in his congratulatory message
the Russian leader noted that "over the past several years the republic
has been experiencing serious hardships."
"I am confident that friendly people of Kyrgyzstan will successfully
overcome the existing difficulties and will continue its steady movement
towards strengthening its statehood and socio-economic development," he
said.
Medvedev underlined "high dynamics of the Russian-Kyrgyz political
dialogue that helps to resolve pressing issues on the bilateral agenda in
the spirit of partnership and on the basis of consecutive fulfilment of
the effective agreements."
The Russian leader noted that the two countries' "close cooperation
within the framework of regional organizations such as CIS, the Collective
Security Treaty Organization, the Eurasian Economic Community and the
Shanghai Cooperation Organization that open new prospects for the
implementation of long-term integration projects deserves appreciation."
Medvedev expressed confidence that "joint efforts will help to tap a
significant potential for cooperation in different spheres for the good of
our countries, in the interests of peace and stability in Central Asia."
The president's chief of staff, Sergei Naryshkin, read out Medvedev's
message at the festivities devoted to the 20th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's
independence, the press service said.
