Salvos collect $100,000 for fire victims

Queenslanders have donated about $100,000 to the three survivors of the state's worst fire in more than a decade.
Droves of commuters stopped in the middle of Brisbane's Queen Street Mall on Friday night and opened their wallets to help the victims of the devastating house fire in Brisbane's south 11 days ago.
About $15,000 was dropped into collection buckets in the space of five hours during a special benefit concert.
The money, which has been collected by the Salvation Army, will go towards covering the funeral costs of the 11 people, aged between three and 42, who were killed in the Slack's Creek blaze.
The donations will also help the three male survivors get back on their feet, after losing not only their loved ones but all aheir possessions.
Neil Dickson from the Salvation Army told AAP about $91,000 had been donated by the public before the concert.
He said the appeal would continue until the end of September, and donations could be made online or by telephone.
