HH the Heir Apparent Issues Decision

Doha, September 06 (QNA) - HH the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued an Emiri decision No. 50 of 2011 on the increase of basic salary, social allowance and pensions for employees and retirees of Qatari civilians and military personnel, working in the state.
Under the decision, His Highness ordered an increase of 60% on basic salary and 60% on social allowance for state civilian employees and 120% on basic salary and 120% on social allowance to military persons of officer ranks and 50% on basic salary and 50% on social allowance for military persons of other ranks, working in the military bodies.
The decision also ordered an increase of 60% of total pension for civilian retirees. This includes those referred to retirement before the enforcement of law No. 24 of 2002 on retirement and pensions.
It also ordered an increase of 120% for retirees of military personnel of officer ranks and 50% for military individuals of other ranks.
HH the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent ordered the decision to be effective from September 1.
His Highness had ordered the formation of a committee under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Interior Affairs and with members from ministries and authorities concerned. The committee examined thoroughly the conditions of employees and retirees of Qatari civilians and military individuals in accordance with the state social policy and it economic priorities and the importance it attaches to the conditions of Qatari nationals.
The total amount of the increase on basic salary and social allowance, which His Highness ordered, reached QR10bn per year in addition to QR10bn to be paid once for pension fund and another QR10bn to pay for retirees' subscriptions ahead of the implementation of the retirement and pension law.
