Iran continues providing humanitarian assistance to Somalis

TEHRAN, Sept.8 (MNA) – Iran’s 11th cargo of humanitarian assistance weighing about 40 tons was sent late on Wednesday by air to Somalia, which is currently experiencing famine and drought.

Iran was among the first countries which rushed to the aid of the Somali people and has so far provided them with aid worth over $25 million.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has also set up a camp in the Somali capital of Mogadishu which accommodates 200 households.

In addition, Tehran has announced its readiness to set up a camp in Somalia which can accommodate 2000 people.
