Serbia praises Iran’s resolve to achieve its goals

TEHRAN, Sept.8(MNA) – Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said he respects Iran for its determination to push ahead with its plans.

Jeremic made the remarks during a recent meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Mahdi Akhoundzadeh, who made a trip to Belgrade to attend a ceremony held on Monday and Tuesday to mark the 50th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement’s first summit.

“I deeply respect Iran for its history and determination (to achieve its goals),” he said.

“We understand your situation because we have also been a target of propaganda campaign,” he stated.

He also pointed to the issue of international recognition of Kosovo and thanked Iran for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.

Iran is among of the countries which have not formally recognized Kosovo as an independent state.

Akhoundzadeh also criticized major powers for adopting double-standard policies on international developments and taking advantage of issues such as human rights and democracy to achieve their objectives.
