MALAYSIAN DPM MUHYIDDIN ARRIVES IN LONDON FOR FOUR-DAY UK VISIT

LONDON, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister
Muhyiddin Yassin arrived here Thursday to begin a four-day working visit to the
United Kingdom.

Muhyiddin, who was accompanied by his wife Noorainee Abdul Rahman,
was received on arrival at the Heathrow Airport by Malaysian High Commissioner
to the United Kingdom Zakaria Sulong and other Malaysian officials at 6 am
Thursday (2 pm Thursday in Malaysia).

Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, will begin his visit with a
meeting with Professor Frances Corner, Head of the London College of Fashion,
University of the Arts London, and will be taken on a tour of the college.

He will perform Friday prayers at the Malaysian High Commission at 45,
Belgrave Square here before launching a forum titled "Independence Forum: 54
Years of Independence: Building a Nation, Sharing a Destiny" at a hotel here.

The director of the Institute of Ethnic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan
Malaysia (UKM), Distinguished Professor Dr Shamsul Amri Baharuddin, and
Chief Executive of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS)
Malaysia, Dr Mahani Zainal Abidin, are scheduled to speak on the topic.
Zakaria will act as the moderator.


Muhyiddin is also scheduled to a meeting and dialogue with the Malaysian
community and students here.

On Saturday, he is scheduled to attend Independence Carnival 2011, which
will be held at the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre in Brickendonbury, Hertford.


The deputy prime minister will also attend an Aidilfitri reception with the
Malaysian community.
