Kazakhstan supports Kyrgyzstan's decision to join Customs Union.

BISHKEK, September 16 (Itar-Tass) -- Kazakhstan support Kyrgyzstan's
decision to join the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan,
Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov said on Friday after a meeting of the
Kyrgyz-Kazakh intergovernmental council.
The Kyrgyz delegation was headed by Prime Minister Almazbek Atambayev.
"We hail Kyrgyzstan's strive for a Customs Union membership," he said.
"Although such a decision is a sovereign right of each state."
According to Masimov, Kazakhstan's membership in this association
brought it many positive results although it raise some "sensitive
problems."
"Anyway, such decision is to be thoroughly studied," he stressed.
He also said that the intergovernmental council meeting yielded a
number of agreements on extra electricity and water supplies from
Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan to satisfy the latter's demand. "At the same,
Kyrgyzstan will be able to create more jobs," he noted.
Apart from that, the two prime ministers reached agreements on
cooperation in the area of agriculture.
According to Atambayev, the Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations are developing in
a dynamic pace but still have a vast "unused potential."
According to official statistics, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan
and Kazakhstan in 2010 went up by 14.4 percent to reach 836.6 million U.S.
dollars. More than 330 joint ventures have been registered in Kyrgyzstan.
The bulk of them specialize in financial activities, trade and food
production.
