Azerbaijan`s Transport officials to attend international events in Bangkok
Baku, September 19 (AzerTAc). Representatives of Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Transport and “Az?ryolservis” company will attend meeting of United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Working Group on the Asian Highway and Expert Group Meeting on Progress in Road Safety Improvement in Asia and the Pacific in Thailand`s capital Bangkok on September 27-29.
Focusing on issues and challenges related to road safety data systems, and monitoring of progress in global and regional road safety goals and targets, the Expert Group`s Meeting is part of activities being organized during the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 which aims to stabilize and reduce the forecast level of road traffic fatalities around the world.
The fourth ESCAP Working Group meeting on the Asian Highway will consider the implementation of the Intergovernmental Agreement on the Asian Highway Network which was entered into force on 4 July 2005. The Working Group will also be a forum for member States to discuss progress in development policies and issues relating to international road transport.
