Shalah shows the arrest warrant against Sa’idi, says carrying it out does not need lifting immunity

Baghdad (NINA) – MP from the State of Law Coalition, Ali Al Shalah, showed the arrest warrant issued by the Baghdad Appeal Court against MP Sabah Al Sa’idi upon charges of insulting the government.

In a second press conference held about the same issued this morning in the Parliament HQ, Shalah said “Sa’idi committed a flagrante delicto by insulting the government, and according the Article 63 of the constitution; the flagrante delicto does not need lifting immunity.”

He added that the SLC is serious in this issue and that warrant was issued by the Baghdad Appeal Court and signed by the chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Middhat Al Mahmoud.

Shalah announced in an earlier conference today that the warrant was issued against Sa’idi according to Article 226, insulting the government, and that the Parliament presidency will adopt the legal procedures to carry out the warrant.

He added “Sa’idi’s recent statements were not criticism of the government, but, an insult.”
