S. Korea, Japan to raise quota on working-holiday visas

SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korea said Wednesday it has agreed with Japan to raise the annual quota for young Koreans applying for working-holiday visas starting next month.
Under the agreement, as many as 10,000 Korean nationals aged 18-30 can apply for working-holiday visas each year, up from the current quota of 7,200 people, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The two nations had originally planned to raise the quota starting next year, but agreed to push the schedule forward by two months because of rising demand for such visas, it said.
Working-holiday visas allow young Koreans to travel and work in Japan for up to one year.
