Tokyo Court Rules 3 Ex-Aides to Ozawa Guilty

Tokyo, Sept. 26 (Jiji Press)--Tokyo District Court on Monday ruled three former secretaries to Democratic Party of Japan heavyweight Ichiro Ozawa guilty of violating the political funds control law.
The three are Takanori Okubo, 50, House of Representatives lawmaker Tomohiro Ishikawa, 38, and Mitsutomo Ikeda, 34.
The court sentenced Okubo to three years in prison, suspended for five years. Ishikawa was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for three years. Ikeda received a one-year sentence, suspended for three years.
Public prosecutors had sought prison sentences of three and a half years for Okubo, two years for Ishikawa and one year for Ikeda.
The three had pleaded not guilty over the suspected submission of false political funds reports to the government over the movements of funds related to a real estate purchase by Rikuzankai, a fund management body for Ozawa.
