Kiwis upset Kookaburras in Oceania Cup

SYDNEY (AAP) - Oct 06 - New Zealand broke a 13-year losing streak against the Kookaburras with a convincing 3-0 win in the opening match of the Oceania Cup in Hobart on Thursday.
The Kiwis hit the front eight minutes in with a great strike from Hugo Inglis to head into half-time with a 1-0 lead.
The Kookaburras missed several gettable chances, but were also denied by a stellar performance by Black Sticks goalkeeper Kyle Pontifex.
Andy Hayward converted two corners in the second half to put the result beyond doubt.
Australia now need to win the two remaining games at the weekend to win the series.
Both sides have already qualified for the Olympics following Fiji's withdrawal from the tournament, but pool places are still up for grabs.
