Victorians warned of contaminated bread

SYDNEY (AAP) - Oct 07 - Victorians have been warned not to eat Bakers Life Multigrain Sandwich Sliced Bread from Aldi stores, because of contamination.
The Department of Health says the 650g loaves, with a best-before date of October 12, may be contaminated with plastic fragments.
"It is possible the bread may cause injury if consumed," Victoria's chief health officer Dr John Carnie said.
"People should not eat this product and should either discard it or return it to the point of purchasefor a refund."
The bread was baked on Friday October 7 and only sold in Victorian Aldi that day.
Dr Carnie said anyone who had eaten the bread and felt unwell should contact their doctor.
As yet there have been no reports of illness linked to the product.
The department was notified by the manufacturer that the bread had been withdrawn from sale due to a contamination, Dr Carnie said.
Aldi and the manufacturer were cooperating fully with the department, he said.
