NZ beat Australia in U17 women soccer

SYDNEY (AAP) - Oct 07 - New Zealand's women have beaten Australia in their under-17 soccer series.
The Young Ferns came from behind win 3-1 in the third and final match in Auckland on Friday night to finish the week with two wins and a draw.
"We won't get carried away but it's Australia, the old foe," coach Paul Temple said.
"We don't win many games against them, let alone a series, so it's a good start for us with plenty of positives."
Both teams used the series at North Harbour Stadium as build-up for their respective qualifying events for the under-17 World Cup in Azerbaijan next year.
The Ferns won the first match 2-1 and the sides fought out a goalless draw in the second.
Australia were fired up for game three and went ahead midway through the opening spell when Meg McLaughlin finished from close range after Amy Harrison's shot rebounded off the bar.
New Zealand came back in the second half and three goals in 16 minutes swung the contest their way.
Substitute Emma Fletcher set up Emma Rolston to equalise with a low shot in the 64th minute, before Briar Palmer's cross sailed fortuitously over Australian keeper Shamira Khamis and into the net.
With 10 minutes to go, substitute Jolene Muir made victory secure with her first touch, lobbing into an empty goal after Khamis and Rolston had tangled on the edge of the box.
