Azerbaijani president and his spouse attend opening of International Forum in Baku (UPDATE)

International Humanitarian Forum on the "XXI century: hopes and challenges" started in Gulustan palace, in Baku.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva participated in the opening ceremony of the forum and the first plenary meeting.
The Head of State made a speech at the forum.
Head of Russia`s Presidential Administration Sergey Naryshkin read out a congratulatory letter of President Dmitry Medvedev.
The 9th President of Turkey Suleyman Demirel also made a speech.
U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza read out a letter of ex-president Bill Clinton.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Mevlut Chavushoglu made a speech.
UNESCO deputy director for communication and information issues Yanes Karklins read out a letter of Director General Irina Bokova.
ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Al-Twaijri addressed the forum.
President Ilham Aliyev, first lady Mehriban Aliyeva and the forum participants posed for photographs.
The event is bringing together the public and political figures, workers of culture and art, heads of the authoritative mass media. The two-day forum is initiated by Presidents, Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Dmitry Medvedev of Russia.
Discussions on the subjects "Humanitarian aspects of economic models of development", "Modem technologies that changed the world", "Traditional values system in postmodern culture", "Biotechiologies and ethical problems", "Multiculturalism: achievements and problems", "Social journalism and high technologies", "Convergence of sciences" will be held in seven panels within the forum.
