Senior MP: US, Britain Spearheading Violation of Human Rights in World

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian legislator condemned the continued and severe suppression of protestors in the US and Britain, and called the two states pioneers of human rights violation with regard to their own and other nations.
"The two countries are spearheading violation of human rights in the world," Fatemeh Alia told FNA on Tuesday, adding that Washington and London use human rights as a pretext to increase pressures on independent states.

"The human rights and other similar issues have now turned into a tool in the hands of the arrogant countries to lay pressure on independent and freedom-seeking nations and governments," she stressed.

Alia said that US and British rulers, who always accuse other countries of violent behavior towards their nations, are now suppressing their own people in the eyes of the world people and the media.

Unrest has rocked Britain in a scale unprecedented in 30 years following the police's killing of black male Mark Duggan in a shooting spree in the London suburb of Tottenham on August 4.

Tension erupted on August 6, when a few hundred people gathered outside a police station in Tottenham to protest the killing.

MPs and rights activists expressed concern over "naming and shaming" of young protestors and giving them long sentences as part of the Conservative-led coalition's crackdown on unrests.

Also, the US has shown heavy-handed policing techniques against popular protests in the Wall Street and across the state.
