South Pars Gas Field Development Complete by October 2015

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran announced that all the phases of the South Pars gas field will come on stream by October 2015.
Iran will complete phases 15 and 16 by April 2012 and phase 11 will be the last, Managing Director of the South Pars Gas and Oil Company Souri said, according to the oil ministry's news website.

Iranian officials announced in January that the country plans to complete the development of South Pars, which together with Qatar's North Field forms the world's largest known deposit of the fuel, by March 2015.

The field's development consists of 28 phases, Iranian officials have said.

Energy experts say that Iran has 137.6 billion barrels of proven oil reserves, and 29.61 trillion cubic meters of proven gas reserves. In June this year, The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) had announced discovery of another large deposit of crude oil and natural gas in the South Pars field in the Persian Gulf. It was estimated that the discovery would increase Iran's crude and gas condensate reserves by one billion barrels.

The South Pars gas field is located in the Persian Gulf, north of Iran's maritime border with Qatar. The field's reserves are estimated at 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensates.
