Submarine springs gas leak during exercise

SYDNEY (AAP) - Oct 28 - An Australian submarine's cooling system has failed during an military exercise, leaking refrigerant gas into the vessel.
Defence said on Friday the crew of HMAS Farncomb followed the standard emergency procedures and no one was hurt.
The submarine is returning to Singapore for repairs.
The incident happened during a five-power defence agreement (FPDA) exercise, which has brought together 18 warships, a submarine and 65 aircraft from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
The FPDA exercise continues in various locations on the Malaysian Peninsula and the South China Sea until November 4.
