No obstacle prevents Iran-PGCC ties: Ahmadinejad

Khorramabad, Lorestan Prov, Oct 30, IRNA- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here on Wednesday that Iran set no obstacle in the way of expansion of its amicable relations with the Persian Gulf littoral states.

Ahmadinejad was speaking in a meeting with the visiting Foreign
Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed
al-Nahayan.

The president is in this western province on the second round of his
provincial tours.

"Iran and the Persian Gulf countries enjoy great historical and
religious commonalties. Tehran-Abu Dhabi ties can be a model for other
countries," the Iranian president said.

Noting that the Islamic world and Middle East region were facing many
problems, President Ahmadinejad said, "Through cooperation, we can
promote complete security in the region and even establish joint
constructive economic relations."
He said that the Persian Gulf countries are rich countries with the
potential to think globally.

Ahmadinejad pointed to enemies' plots aimed at sowing discord among
regional states and said, "Enemies intend to cause strife between
countries in the region...We should strengthen our cooperation to
establish regional security as it is our present Islamic duty."
reiterating that the United States was on the verge of collapse, the
president said, "Next governments that will come to power in the US
would no longer be able to continue its previous policies." Meanwhile,
Al-Nahayan called for promotion of UAE relations with Iran in various
fields.

The UAE foreign minister said that expansion of cooperation between
regional countries would make further confidence among them.
