State awards commission scrutinizes nominees

Astana, 2 December 2008, (Khabar) - The state award commission headed by the Secretary of State Kanat Saudabayev has scrutinized the candidacies of people who could be awarded with medals including the newly introduced “Kazakhstannyn Enbek Eri” (“Labour hero”) order for those who have made a significant contribution to the development of the country. According to Kanat Saudabayev, the establishment of the new award is a sign of the successful social and economic development of the country as well as a rebirth of the Republic’s culture and art. The “Labour hero” award is now among the country’s highest decorations such as the “National Hero” order and the “Altyn Kyran” medal. Having considered the nominees, the commission passed a list of people to be awarded for their significant contribution in agriculture, science, education, culture and healthcare over to the President. The list also comprises war and labour veterans as well as military personnel and law enforcement officials.
