“The miracles of Turkestan” exhibitions

Semey, 8 December 2008, (Khabar) - “The miracles of Turkestan” exhibitions from holdings of “Azret Sultan” museum-reserve. A mobile exhibition entitled “the Miracles of Turkestan”, which was organized by the “Cultural heritage” programme and dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the “Azret Sultan” state history and cultural museum, has opened in Semey. The Turkestan oasis, located between Karatau and Syrdarya is called the “Golden Bridge” as it is situated on the crossroads of ancient economic, trade and diplomatic routes. It was the religious and cultural centre of the region and pilgrims from all over the world still come here today. The exhibition opened in Semey provides the possibility to see all the miracles of the former capital of the Kazakh khanate. The “Azret Sultan” state historical and cultural museum comprises about 18 thousand exhibits and over 200 of them were brought to Semey. One of the miracles of Turkestan is the mausoleum of Khozha Akhmet Yassauy and the list of exhibits includes a model of this mausoleum.

- One of the most mysterious cities of the ancient Kazakhstan Sauran had a madrasah with two unstable towers – minarets that started to crumble in the beginning of the 19th century. Currently, archeologists are trying to solve the secret of these towers that can be considered one of the wonders of the world.”

Different ornaments, ancient coins and ceramic dishes are just a small part of the real exhibition but the organizers of the exhibition said that they also brought photos which depict other exhibits from the museum.
