The President of RK visits Karaganda
Karaganda, 9 December 2008, (Khabar) - Extensive repairs at the airport in Karaganda have come to an end along with a new housing estate for doctors and teachers, the second part of the pharmaceutical facility has been launched and the Kazakh drama theatre has opened as well. The head of the country visited all of these facilities on his trip to the city.
The Karaganda region has defended its leading position in the regions’ rankings yet again. Despite the uneasy economic situation, central Kazakhstan has managed to maintain its reputation. The extensive repairs of the airport have been completed and now it corresponds to international standards. The airport runway has been modernized and increased in length to 3,600 metres which allows it to receive aircraft of almost all types. It is difficult to recognize the building of the air gateway as it became more fresh, cozy and bright inside and has acquired new aircraft boarding bridges in order to provide quick service for passengers. The capacity of the airport stands at 2.5 million passengers and 40 thousand tons of freight per year. Karaganda has already established regular air communications with Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Moscow and almost all the administrative centres of the republic.
One of the accomplishments of the Karaganda region is that unlike the majority of other regions of the country, the implementation of the president’s program on the construction of 100 schools and 100 hospitals hasn’t been delayed. What is more, housing especially for teachers and doctors was commissioned in the coal mining capital, where 352 families have already celebrated moving in and Nursultan Nazarbayev has visited one of them. The owner of the house, Zhanat Kalkabayev is one of the top neurosurgeons of the region. His wife, Madina is a teacher of biology at a school. The couple has two children and as they have their hosing situation worked out well, they can now think about a third one. The family of Kalkabayevs has acquired this flat through Zhilstroisberbank with a loan for 15 years at just 4 per cent, an ideal option for budget workers. Nursultan Nazarbayev presented a large television set to the family of Kalkabayevs.

- New Kazakhstan is impossible without education and we will not achieve anything without human resources. We will increase role of teachers and medical people. The newest medical equipment can’t function if it is not used by professionals. That’s why we will toughen demands for teachers and doctors.
In the second hometown of the president, the pharmaceutical industry has developed successfully and unites over 30 enterprises. Under the president’s commission in 2005, a “Phytochemistry” centre was founded here which started the production of medical products and today, a second production line has already been launched. The company plans to expand further so as to form a pharmaceutical facility of international standards in the future. This outstanding building in the centre of the city is a new Kazakh drama theatre which has become the symbol of Karaganda. It is an eight-storey building with 24 thousand square metres including 2 halls, one of which is designed for 705 seats. All the actors have their own dressing room. There is a hotel in the same building for guest performers and every floor has its own unique design. Nurlan Nigmatulin, the governor of the region, promised to build this theatre within 3 years, however, the facility was ready to be commissioned one year early. Kazakh and Russian drama theatres had to operate in one building during this time in Karaganda. Nursultan Nazarbayev presented them with a big bus which is very comfortable for traveling.
The first performance on the new stage happened to be the “Aiman Sholpan” musical comedy written by Mukhtar Auezov. The business visit of the President throughout the Karaganda region will continue tomorrow. The main event is promised to be the launching of the new manufacturing giant- a silicon factory which has already joined the number of the 30 corporate leaders of the republic.
