Kazakhstan culture festival in Japan

Tokyo, 11 December 2008, (Khabar) - Kazakhstan’s festival of culture has come to an end in Tokyo. For the first time in history, Kazakh art was fully represented in Japan. The organizers of the festival happened to be the ministry of Culture and Information as well as the “Kazakh Auenderi” community. Over three days, the audience in Tokyo applauded the folk and ethnographic ensemble called “Otrar sazy”, the “Kamerata of Kazakhstan” ensemble, and the best voices from Kazakhstan as well.

Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed, minister of culture and information of RK:
- The official trip of the head of our country to Japan in the summer of this year has become a key event in the history of Kazakh and Japanese relations. The President of Kazakhstan was given a state reception and was received by the Emperor of Japan himself and awarded with the most honourable state award of this country. The head of our country had also met the leaders of both houses of the parliament and the Prime Minister, and conducted a number of meetings with the heads of the largest multinational companies in Japan. All this caused great interest on behalf of the Japanese government and business circles especially considering the investment prospects for our country. I think holding the festival of Kazakhstani culture in Japan has become a kind of continuation of this visit as culture is what unites nations and states stronger than anything else.

The “Heritage of the steppe” exhibition represented one of the events at the festival and the symbol of Kazakhstan, the “Golden man” was at the centre of the exposition. The collection of the Kasteyev museum including the works of Mambeyev, Telzhanov, Galimbayeva, Ismailova was also presented. Mr. Mukhtar Kul-Mukhamed, delivered a lecture on Kazakhstan at one of the most prestigious universities in the world during the days of the festival. The minister reported that the agreement about providing the chance for students from Kazakhstan to study here has already been signed. On this day, the negotiations with Takeo Kawamura, general secretary of the ministers’ cabinet of Japan and the chairman of the Japanese parliamentary league of friendship with Kazakhstan took place as well. He stressed that Kazakhstan is the most reliable partner of Japan at the moment.
