Trade ministry announces first industrial zone in Aden for

SANA'A, Dec. 14 (Saba) - For second time, the Ministry of Industry
and Trade has announced the first industrial zone in Aden
governorate for investment.

The area of the zone is estimated at 200 hectares near from
coastline of Arab Sea.

In its statement, the ministry said that the announcement comes
within the ministry's plan to attract local, Arabic and foreign
investment to the industrial activity.

Legal measures of land of the zone, economic studies and designs
have been done for investors who have desire to develop the zone,
the ministry said.

The ministry make it clear that establishment of the projects would
be in accordance with conditions of investment and operation for the
industrial zone in Aden.

It called on investors and companies who have enough financial and
technical capacities to do those projects to submit their requests.

The ministry determined the deadline for the receiving requests by
1st January, 2009.

The Director General of the Industrial Zones Department at the
ministry Abdul-Razaq al-Sorori said that the ministry announced the
investment in the zone for first time at the beginning of 2007
within the plan of the ministry to open further ten industrial zones
in Aden, Hodeidah, Hadramout, Lahj, and Shabwa governorates.

"In its first phase, the Aden industrial zone expected to create
around 9,000 jobs," al-Sorori told Saba.

He added that the cost of the infrastructure of the zone is $ 37
million.Recently, a team of Egyptian experts prepared studies on
three industrial zones in Aden, Hodeidah and Hadramout governorates.

According to the studies, Yemen has features which insure success of
industrial zones and integration into the international market due
to its strategic location and seaport- near from international trade
navigation roads.

The studies expected between 20,000 to 30,000 job opportunities, in
care of developing one hundred hectare only in Aden industrial zone.

The studied added that increase of using Aden seaport by ships would
decline fee of shipment which leads to decrease prices.

Deputy Minister of Egyptian trade and industrial ministry, head of
the team, Samir Abdul-Moati steps taken by Yemen to set up
industrial zones are planed.In his press remarks, he said that
inventors look for safe place, and Yemen offered that to set up
these zones and law of investment in addition to the republican
decree of setting up the zones. He said that the industrial zones of
Aden, Hodeidah and Lahj have been promoted since last March and they
were designed in accordance with international standards.
