Integration in world educational arena

Ust-Kamenogorsk, 18 December 2008, (Khabar) - A corner of Europe was opened at the Eastern Kazakhstan State Technical University. This project is regarded as a step towards integrating within the European education community. A corner of Europe is equipped with top IT-technologies and there is also access to web portals of educational centres in 27 countries which belong to the community. From now on, the Kazakhstani University is able to use European know-how in both science and education. The European Union has accumulated great experience and is ready to share it.

Norbert Justin, head of European commission office in RK:
- We will update the training plans and work together on vocational training. We have such programmes as the «Erasmus» and «Tempus» programmes which are aimed at students exchange and cooperation between scientists in Europe and Kazakhstan.

The Technical University has established cooperation with the largest universities of England, Germany and the USA. The joint educational projects necessitated some re-training of both instructors and students. As a result, the Eastern Kazakhstan higher education institution passed an examination on world quality standards and was recognized as a participant of equal rights concerning educational dialogue.

Galym Mutanov, rector of Serikbayev Eastern Kazakhstan State Technical University:
- We have a number of projects in this respect including the centre for training and re-training of instructors of technical universities in accordance with European technologies. We have already opened a centre for engineering education. Such European structures will provide more opportunities for implementing our plans and projects.

An exchange between Kazakhstan and Europe will be based on mutually beneficial terms. The laboratory of the university is equipped according to the latest technology and there is everything necessary for carrying out research. Cooperation with large metallurgical enterprises will allow the introduction of inventions more quickly. Mr. Wedenfeller, a German professor, will conduct lectures for students and continue his scientific activity at the same time. Kazakhstani scientists are ready to share their developments with their foreign colleagues. A very extensive scientific collection concerning powder metallurgy is based at the university as well.
