Kazakhstani pilgrims return from hajj

Almaty, 19 December 2008, (Khabar) - Kazakhstan welcomes numerous pilgrims who carried out holy hajj to Mecca. This year over 3 000 Kazakhstani citizens have visited Saudi Arabia. During hajj calm streets of Mecca remind New York’s Manhattan. Hundreds of automobiles come here at the same time and the city becomes full with traffic jams. The authorities of the kingdom raised the issue of prohibition for entrance of auto transport to free streets from numerous cars. But the doors before pilgrims can’t be closed. It is very difficult to get lost in a large crowd. That’s why most countries create special missions that are responsible for health and safety of pilgrims. Last year such organization was founded in our country according to the suggestion of Spiritual management of Muslims of Kazakhstan.

Kairat Tolessov, deputy chairman of Committee on religious affairs under Justice Ministry of RK, head of spiritual mission:
- Before the beginning of hajj we and representatives of Spiritual management come to Saudi Arabia and inspect hotels and meet our citizens in airport.

Kazakhstani pilgrims were cordially met after arriving to Mecca. Special attention from the embassy of RK to Saudi Arabia has already become a kind tradition. But this time the national diplomats gladdened guests not only with tasty supper but also with a pleasant news.

Kairat Lama Sharif, ambassador of RK to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:
- The consulate of Kazakhstan was opened in Jeddah on the eve. And our consular service will render assistance to our citizens during carrying out of pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina.

Not everybody can bear sharp change of climate, 40-dgree heat and daily contact with a large quantity of people. Four Astana doctors, members of mission, worked at full stretch. Modern equipment, medicines and experience of doctors saved tens of lives.

Sagadat Sarbassov, doctor of spiritual mission:
- They are tired, as their age is 80 and over. And air temperature is over 40 degrees above zero.

Having carried out holy duty of a Muslim, these people will be titled as “kazhy”. It is expected the last group of Kazakhstani pilgrims will leave holy sites before December 25.
