Vientiane has 115 poor villages to be addressed

(KPL) The province of Vientiane has 115 poor villages comprising 21.8 per cent of all the villages of this province and the 7,713 families who live in these poor villages from 10.4 per cent of all the families of Vientiane province and this was said by the governor of Vientiane province, Mr. Khammueng Phunthady at the assessment meeting for the year 2007-2008.
Party Secretary of the province, Mr. Chansy Phosykham, Development Supervisor of the Committee on National Poverty Reduction, Mr. Onneua Phummachanh and other officials attended this meeting, held at the Vientiane Administration Office on 6-7 January 2009.
This province has increased its area for rice cultivation by as much as 14 per cent so that on an average each person has 450 kg of rice per year and rubber trees are grown on 3,110 ha. Attar wood trees are grown on 2,000 ha and jatropha trees on 1,150 ha.
As many as five hundred and twenty four villages out of 527villages have access to road and 451 villages enjoy access to electricity. Vientiane province has 664 schools and its enrolment rate is 95.5%. Dispensaries are found in 43 villages and three villages culture are villages.
