The head of the state visited a new school in Astana

Astana, 10 January 2009, Khabar - In 2008, 46 schools out of 90 have been constructed as part of the “100 schools and 100 hospitals” programme. This year, Nursultan Nazarbayev has requested the further construction of at least 54 schools. The president of the country visited one of the recently constructed schools and evaluated the new construction standards and equipment of the Kazakh educational institutions.
The problem of a school deficit in Almaty is the most acute in such micro-districts as “Kalkaman-3”. Currently this micro-district consists of only one school for 600 students. The school is so overcrowded that teachers have to give lessons in three shifts. However, since the construction of a new school for 1200 students this problem has been solved. The president observed new class-rooms, the canteen and the gym. At the hall of the new school, the president familiarised himself with three models of new schools, the construction of which is currently underway in Almaty. These three schools are also being constructed as part of the “100 schools and 100 hospitals” programme.

Zhanseyit Tuymebayev, Minister for Education and Science of RK
- In 2008, the Kazakh Republic saw the construction of 90 schools, including 46 which were constructed as part of the “100 schools and 100 hospitals” programme. The rest of the schools will be constructed this year.”

This is a school of the new generation since it corresponds to all quality standards. The school is equipped with spacious class-rooms, computer classes with Internet connections, interactive whiteboards, laboratories and gyms. Such a standard is to become normal for Kazakhstan’s schools.

- The school is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and all the teachers are highly qualified.
- The new school is equipped with new facilities.

Gulsara Yermukhanova, professor:
- We are very grateful to our president that he has initiated the “100 schools and 100 hospitals” programme that is successfully underway in Almaty.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of RK:
- I believe that despite the price of these schools, they should be constructed. On Monday, we are to open a special school in Astana. All in all, it is plannined to open 20 such schools. These schools will help gifted children to enter the best universities of both Kazakhstan and the world.

First of all, the new schools are being constructed in districts where the highest level of population growth is seen.
