TIGHTER SCREENING FOR H1N1 INFLUENZA AT DUBAI INTERNATIONAL

DUBAI, May 4 (Bernama) -- All screenings on passengers arriving over the weekend at Dubai International airport from influenza A (H1N1) virus-affected areas were found to be normal, according to Dubai Airports.

The airport authority said it was working very closely with the Department
of Health to prevent the entry of the virus into United Arab Emirates.

Thermal imaging cameras were installed at the airport Friday as part of
preventive measures to check the spread of the flu virus which originated in
Mexico, with the World Health Organisation confirming more than 800 cases of
H1N1 virus worldwide.

"Airlines have been requested to inform passengers onboard of the screening
at Dubai International and assure them of the expert medical care that will be
available if required," said a Dubai Airports statement.

If any suspected cases are identified, they will be transported to the
Airport Medical Centre for further tests and handled accordingly.

"Airlines have been urged to announce minors onboard a flight ahead of its
arrival to facilitate their screening at the airport," the statement added.
