BY VINCENT LOW

BEIJING, May 26 (Bernama) -- China on Monday recorded three more Influenza
A(H1N1) cases, bringing the total number of cases of the disease detected in the
country so far to 11, said its Health Ministry in its website.

It said five out the 11 cases were from the capital city.

The cases reported Monday involved a 46-year-old man known as Chang from
Beijing, who had returned from a trip to visit relatives in Toronto, Canada
on Thursday,

Another was a 19-year old student who studied in United States and had just
returned home to Wenzhou in Zhejiang province on a connecting flight from
Shanghai after arriving from New York at 4.30am on Friday.

The third is a 30-year-old man who works with an Australian company in
Pudong New Area, Shanghai, and was detected having Influenza A (H1NI) upon
arrival from Melbourne, Australia on Saturday morning at the Pudong Airport.

The man, who was travelling on China Airlines flight CA178 from Melbourne,
was detected by the medical screening team at the Pudong Airport of having high
body temperature (38.8 degrees Celsius) said the ministry.

It said Chang, who complained of having cough and sore throat on Friday, a
day after returning home, got worse on Saturday and developed a high fever and
was admitted to Chaoyang Hospital here for treatment.

He was later sent to Ditan Hospital for quarantine, and the test performed
on him showed positive for the virus.

Beijing's Disease Prevention and Control Centre performed further tests on
Chang's specimen and confirmed it had positive reaction to the A(H1N1) virus.

Chang, who is being treated at Ditan Hospital, had regained normal body
temperature and his overall health condition was said to be stable.

However, five people he had contact with since he came home to date had not
complained of any illness.

The 19-year-old student was admitted to Wenzhou People's Hospital after he
had fever and showed symptoms of sore throat, cough and respiratory infection
on the same day he arrived home.
