Singapore gives Laos a thermal camera to detect flu

(KPL) The Singapore Technologies Telemedia Company presented a A(H1N1) Thermal camera to Lao government, worth 640 million kip, to be installed in Wattay Airport and used to detect air passengers who are stricken with any kind of flu or fever.
During the hand over ceremony, on 25 May, held at Wattay Airport, Mr Jeyaraj Benjamin William, the Singapore Ambassador to Laos handed this piece of high-tech equipment to Mr Cheuang Sombounkhan, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and Secretariat Head of Control of Communicable Diseases and the other witnesses were the director general of this company and concerned officials.
The director general of this company said that the purpose of this gift is to prevent the outbreak of influenza in Laos and also to foster good relations between Laos and Singapore.
The Director General also provided two experts to install and train Lao technicians.
