AMERICA NEEDS ONE MILLION NURSES: RI'S OFFICIAL

Makassar, S Sulawesi, May 27 (ANTARA) -The United States needs another one million nurses, and this provides an opportunity for the nurses in South Sulawesi to apply for the job, spokesman for the manpower office said.

"However, it is not easy to be accepted for the job, because applicants would have to undergo a tight selection, such as in possession of a TOEFL certificate," head of the provincial manpower affairs office, Saggaf Saleh said here Wednesday.

"This is prerequisite. Anyone interested could apply through the provincial manpower affairs office," Saleh said, adding that his office planned to send 2,500 workers abroad in 2009.

"In training the would-be migrant workers in English, Korean and Arabic languages, we will cooperate with three higher learning institutions namely Hasanuddin University, UMI and UIN," the spokesman said.

Touching on the 800 deported Indonesian migrant workers from Malaysia, Saleh said, their contract had expired and due to their illegal status, six of them came from South Sulawesi.
