JASA MARGA TO RAISE TOLL ROAD FEES BY 15 PCT

Jakarta, May 29 (ANTARA) - Publicly-listed toll road operator PT Jasa Marga Tbk (JSMR) plans to raise toll fees on 11 of the country's turnpikes by 15 percent effective August 2009.

"We plan to increase the toll rates on 11 out of the 13 turnpikes we operate," Jasa Marga President Director Frans Sunito said here on Thursday.

The 11 turnpikes were Belmerah in North Sumatra, Jagorawi, Jakarta-Tangerang, Ulujami-Pondok Aren, Jakarta Inner Ring Road, Jakarta Outer Ring Road, Cikampek-Padalarang, Padalarang-Cileunyi, Palikanci, Semarang, and Surabaya-Gempol, he said.

He said the toll rate hike was based on the inflation rate in the past couple of years.

According to Jasa Marga data, the inflation rate stood at an average of 7-8 percent in each of the past two years, he said.

It was for the Public Works Ministry through the Toll Road Management Board (BPJT) to set the amount of the toll rate hike, he said.

"According to our business plan, the toll rates are expected to increase by about 15 percent," he said.

With the projected 15 percent rise in toll road fees, the company expected its income to increase to Rp3.7 trillion this year, he said.
