3 more swine flu cases detected in Kingdom

Riyadh, June 16 , SPA -- The number of swine flu cases detected in
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia totaled 17 cases after the discovery of
three more swine flue affected cases in Riyadh and Madinah with Type
A of H1N1, The Ministry of Health announced here today.

The first case was a Saudi student on scholarship in Australia who
arrived in Madinah last Saturday. The second case was a Mauritanian
woman, who was in contact with the previously announced Mauritanian
male patient . The third case was a Malaysian nurse who also was in
contact with the yesterday discovered Pilipino nurse case, The MOH
said in a statement published today.

The Saudi and Mauritanian patients are quarantined at King Fahd
Hospital in Madinah while the Malaysian nurse is hospitalized at King
Fahd Hospital of the National Guard-Riyadh, the statement added.

The statement pointed out that patient are now under preventive and
therapeutic measures and procedures in accordance with the national
plan for prevention of swine flu Disease as well as the
recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Ministry called on passengers of Emirates flight number 817 that
arrived in Riyadh from Dubai on Friday, June 12, and also on the
SAUDIA flight No.1465 that arrived in Madinah from Riyadh on
Saturday, June 13 to call the Department of Infection Control &
Prevention- Riyadh Health Affairs on the extension provided below
01-4875511 Ex, 333, 319 and 392 in case of the emergence of symptoms
such as fever, cough, running-nose, sore throat, feeling of pain in
some parts of the body including muscles and joints, as well as
headaches, fatigue and shivering, during the first seven days of the
arrival date.
