Yemen announces first confirmed case of Swine Flue



SANA'A, June 16 (Saba) - Ministry of Public Health and Population
announced on Tuesday the first case of infection with H1N1 virus in
Yemen.

Minister of Public Health and Population Abdul-Karim Rase'a told
Saba that the N1H1-infected case is a Yemeni student, aged 16 years,
who came from United Sates last Saturday, June 13th and the symptoms
have been appeared on the case on Monday.

Rase'a indicated that the case of infected student is mild and
stable, pointing out that the student is subjected to treatment
under quarantine at his home according to the medical instructions
approved by World Health Organization and Atlanta Diseases
Monitoring Center in U.S.

The student was among a group of students within a training program
in the United States, who returned home this week, Rase'a said,
confirming that other students are in good health.

The Minister added that the epidemiological study is underway for
any other cases in order to take the necessary measures accordingly.

This comes after the Yemeni government has taken a number of
precautionary actions to prevent the disease entry to the country
through raising the alert level of monitoring in the hospitals, air
and sea outlets as well as applying the preventive health measures.
