'4,000 sites to provide 5G internet in Iran by March 2025'

Tehran, IRNA – An Iranian official has announced that the country is planned to launch 4,000 sites to provide the 5G-internet services for the users by the end of the next Iranian calendar year in March, 2025.

Amir Lajevardi, the head of Iran’s Communications Regulatory Authority, made the announcement at a national 5G conference in Tehran on Tuesday morning.

At the present, 800 sites are providing the users with the fifth generation of internet, and it is expected that the number will reach 1,200 by the end of the current Iranian year on March 19, 2024.

Now, the average delay in access to the 4G internet is 30 milliseconds while it will drop to13 milliseconds after developing the 5G internet across the country, the official underlined.

In a related development, Iranian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Issa Zarepour said on Monday that the current Iranian government has planned for providing access to 5G internet for 10% of population of the country by 2025.
